Many times in this system will you come across a holder Person or entity who holds the bond certificate lookup box that will ask you to enter or lookup a holder on the system. Below are the steps involved in looking up a tax id number on this system.

1. There will be three boxes listed on the screen one for Tax ID number (SSN/EIN) lookup, and one for Tax ID Alpha lookup (i.e. SMITH J) and one box for the CU assigned CU Account Number. You must make the choice of either looking up the holder by entering part or all of the tax id number or using the alphabetic lookup to locate this holder, or using the internal CU account number.
2. Once you have selected either part or all of the Tax Id Number, or you have to enter an Alphabetic lookup, or choose the CU account Number, you will then have three optional choices to expand your search.
a. Select the box marked Include Closed Tax Ids to mark it with a check if you want to the search to include tax id numbers that have been marked as closed by the system. The default for this is No which is where this box does not contain a check mark. Select this box to mark or unmark it depending on which search criteria you want to use.
b. Select the box marked Include Lost Holders to mark it with a check if you want to the search to include tax id numbers that have been marked as Lost Holders by the system. The default for this is No which is where this box does not contain a check mark. Select this box to mark or unmark it depending on which search criteria you want to use.
c. Select the box marked Show Full Name/Address to display the full name and address of all of the tax ids that match the information entered above. The default for this is No which is where this box does not contain a check mark. Select this box to mark or unmark it depending on which search criteria you want to use.
3. You will now have the option of choosing your which sort option you wish to use when returning the data from the tax id number search. The system defaults the sort order to be Tax Id number but you can change this to be Alpha Lookup order if you wish. Simply select the box next to Alpha Lookup. This box should now contain a dot while the box above marked Tax Id (SSN/EIN) will not contain a dot.
4. Select the submit button to execute the search or select the reset button to clear the screen so you can re enter your variables.
5. If you select the Submit button, you will then be taken to a screen where you will see the headers for Account #, Short Name, Registration, and Registration (Continued). If there is no data that is on the screen under these headers then the system did not find any holders that matched the criteria that you entered, select the BACK button to take you back to the search screen to re enter your search criteria.
6. If you have data on the screen, then you may select which holder you want by selecting the highlighted Account # to choose the correct tax id number that you wish to use.
