Cusip Lookup

In certain functions on the system, you will be asked to enter a cusip An acronym for "Committee of Uniform Securities of Identification Procedures". A CUSIP number is a unique nine-character alpha / numeric code appearing on the face of each stock certificate A document indicating a shareholder's ownership of a specific number of shares in a corporation. Each certificate will indicate the specific number of shares that are represented by the certificate, the date the certificate was issued, the certificate number, and the name of the registered owner. that is assigned to a security by Standard & Poor's Corporation. The number is used to expedite clearance and settlement. number at which time you will be brought to the cusip number lookup screen.  Below are listed the steps in entering the information into this screen so you can bring up the correct cusip number.

 

1. On the box search page, enter the full cusip number and select the submit link and this should take you directly to the correct cusip number if it exists.  You will get a “No Results were found” message if you do not enter a valid cusip number.

 

3. If you don’t know the cusip number, select the search button and the system will open a new window, which will list all stock An instrument that signifies ownership in a corporation. Ownership of stock often includes voting rights and the right to receive dividends when paid. Only a certain type of company called a corporation issues stock. cusips along with the first full line of description.

 

a. Select the link 'Show Closed Issues" at the bottom of the search results box to include closed cusip numbers.

 

4. Select the cusip number from the search list and this will bring you back to the original function with the cusip number you selected.

 

5. If you are looking up a cusip number in any of the dividend reinvestment functions, only cusip numbers that are set up in dividend reinvestment will be shown in the search box.
